John McEnroe

Well I’m a pretty normal guy
I eat and sleep and do my work
I have never taken medication for being delusional
I get plenty of exercise
I love my dog
My dog loves me
But one night in three I dream
I’m playing John McEnroe at the US
One night in three I dream
I’m playing John McEnroe at the US Open

John is serving and I’m returning
And the points are long
And my backhand’s strong
His hair is green and blue
Which is weird
But it all kinda makes sense in my dream
Every now and then he hits a ball in the net
And kinda goes crazy
One night in three I dream I’m playing John McEnroe at the US Open

I hear he has an art gallery downtown
I go down there to see him
He has a pink stripped suit on
I don’t say anything

Most of the time he wins pretty easily
I mean he’s quicker than me
A couple of times I push him to five sets
One great night I beat him in three
He threw all his rackets and had to be restrained
From hurting himself
One night in three I dream
I’m playing John McEnroe at the US
One night in three I dream
I’m playing John McEnroe at the US open
