Bike

Well, right now my mom won’t let me ride the the street

Except for my street and the street that runs to Brian’s house

Brian always laughs when I tell him about my streets

His mom lets him ride anywhere

I’m just glad I got the streets I got

Last week I had to stay on the sidewalk

Someday, I’m gonna see the world

On my bike, on my bike

Me and Brian, we got it figured out

We’ll be ready after junior high

We’ll ride to Cedar Rapids

And then to New York

I’ve been to New York

But Brian hasn’t

We’ll ride across to China

Brian knows about China

His dad’s a Presbyterian minister

One place we won’t ride is Germany

My mom’s from there

It’s why I can’t ride on the streets

Someday, I’m gonna see the world

On my bike, on my bike

Me and Brian, we got it figured out

We’ll be ready after junior high

Until then, I’ll make some dough

Mowing the Nickel’s lawn across the street

And Mr. Millhauser, he gives me three dollars

He wanted to give me four, but my mom said that was too much

Two would be enough but she guessed three was all right

I hope my mom gives me enough streets

So I can ride to school this year

My sister gets to ride anywhere

But she’s older, and besides she rides with her friends

I’m hoping my mom talks to Brian’s mom

And she’ll see everything’s ok

Someday, I’m gonna see the world

On my bike, on my bike

Me and Brian, we got it figured out

We’ll be ready to ride after junior high

Well, right now my mom won’t let me ride on the street

Except for my street and the street that runs to Brian’s house
