They Will Pass Over

I found the bloody bone of a lamb
When I opened up my door
Earlier this morning
And I said, “Oh, my God”
And I ran to warn my neighbors
But they were not at home
I was all alone

So I found my best friend Eddie
And ran down to the storehouse
Where they kept all of the bones
We took one for every home
Enough to go around
Some inside the mailbox
Some beside the welcome mat
Some attached to the doorknob with a rubber band
One for every home
And when we finished
We fell to our knees and prayed

That when the rain comes down
And the 1st-born-son is taken
And the clouds darken the town
They will pass over

And I met Jesus Christ in the mall
Said, “What are you doing here”
He said, “I’ve come to find the King”
I said, “I thought that was you”
He said, “No, I’m the Lord of Hosts
“Elvis is the King”
I said, “Oh yes, I like his music
“Especially that one–Allison”

And I told Jesus Christ of the bone
That I found beside my door
Earlier this morning
He said, “Oh my God
“I hope you warned the neighbors”
I said, “They were not at home
“I was all alone
“But I dragged some bloody bones
“Around to every home
“Through the neighborhood
“I done the best I could”

He said yes, you’ve done good
Then he feel to his knees
Said now do something for me
Come and pray with me–

That when the rain comes down
And the first-born-son is taken
And the clouds darken the town
They will pass over

I found a bloody bone of a lamb…
