The Leprechaun Song

When the leprechauns came over
When the leprechauns came around
With their green ears and their green shoes
And their leprechaun sounds
That tiny little hammerin
That plinkin plankin sound
And the way you just feel lucky
When leprechauns are around

And I figured that if I could just
Capture one leprechaun
I’d be set to the end of my days
My debts would all be gone
He’d lead me to the pot of gold
Down by the rainbow’s end
That gold that leprechauns get
For cobbling shoes, my friend

Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah
Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah

My plan was to get that leprechaun
Distracted by a feast
He flew in with Tinkerbell
And laughed like a wild beat
But before I could catch that leprechaun
He’d cleaned off all the dishes
And he said what leprechauns always say
“Magically delicious!”

Then the leprechaun came back over
And I said here’s my chance
And I played my flute to try to get
That leprechaun to dance
He danced a jig on the end of my nose
Kicked me in the rear
‘N I said the hell with leprechauns
And poured another beer

Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah
Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah

Leprechauns are hard to catch
‘Cause leprechauns are fast
Unless you can get em dancing
Then you might stand a chance
But I’d drunk too much whiskey
And so my pot of gold
Would hafta wait til I sobered up
Or til that leprechaun got old

When the leprechauns came over
When the leprechauns came around
With their green ears and their green shoes
And their leprechaun sounds
That tiny littler hammerin
That plinkin plankin sound
And they way you just feel lucky
When leprechauns are around

Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah
Hi digge diggety, diggety dee
Hi digge diggety dum dah
